Gartner: 75% of boards expect AI savings, 3% of firms have delivered them

27 Oct 2026 · The Register

Gartner researchers told an HR symposium that about 75% of board members expect AI to lift productivity and cut costs, but only 3% of organisations have met those targets. The research also found 38% of companies over budget on AI spending and 85% planning to spend more next year. About one in five employees' time is freed by AI.

Why it matters: Ask AI partners how they will measure the target outcome and what happens to cost if it is missed.

Developers saving 10+ hours a week with AI fell from 68% to 26%

27 Oct 2026 · InfoQ

Atlassian's State of Developer Experience 2026 survey covered 1,155 developers and 405 engineering leaders. Use of AI is nearly universal at 95%, yet the share saving ten or more hours a week dropped sharply in a year. 49% spend four or more hours a week managing AI tools, and 65% spend time fixing AI output that missed the intent.

Why it matters: When an agency quotes AI productivity gains, ask how review and rework time are counted.

953 online stores infected with scanner-evading JavaScript, mostly Magento

26 Oct 2026 · The Hacker News

Sansec reports an unknown attacker has infected 953 stores in a campaign running since July 2025, mostly on Magento. The loader serves malicious code only to real shoppers and hides from security scanners. Sansec estimates 471 stores were hit through the PolyShell flaw (CVE-2026-48356), with more through PolyShell or SessionReaper.

Why it matters: Ecommerce owners should ask their agency whether these Magento flaws are patched and how stores are monitored for injected code.

SAP adds a governed gateway for Joule agents

27 Oct 2026 · SiliconANGLE

At its TechEd developer conference SAP announced new Joule Work capabilities that use the Model Context Protocol and Agent 2 Agent to gather context and run multistep workflows. An orchestration layer lets assistants and agents call Joule Agents through a governed gateway, and Joule Studio agents can trigger fixed-rule n8n workflows for compliance-sensitive tasks.

Why it matters: If a partner proposes SAP agents, ask which tasks stay in fixed workflows and who approves what an agent can call.

Microsoft reportedly offers voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 staff

26 Oct 2026 · SiliconANGLE

Microsoft has offered voluntary buyouts to about 60,000 employees, roughly a quarter of its workforce, in the US, Canada, India and the UK, reportedly those scoring 70 or below on an internal experience scale. Staff have until early December to accept, with severance and some stock vesting. Microsoft has not given an explicit reason, and the article suggests the money may go towards data centres.

Why it matters: Vendor workforce changes can affect support and account teams. Ask partners how they would cover a change in your Microsoft contacts.
